Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle focuses on your body type before dispensing information. The idea is that people of different body types and shapes have different nutritional needs and process foods differently. Some body types require more protein and less carbs, while another may thrive on a high carb diet.
Tom Venuto’s system first instructs you on how to figure out which body type you are. It then gives you information about your body type so you can design a diet and fitness regimen that is personalized for you. This highly personalized plan has been proven to be more effective than simply limiting your calorie intake generically as most plans suggest.

I was really impressed with the amount of information, especially as it pertains to your specific body type. More than 250 pages in the core book are dedicated to nutrition, including a comprehensive guide to help you determine your caloric needs and base metabolic rate.

Con: Tom Venuto Burn the Fat Review – Not for Casual Dieters
By reading the Tom Venuto Burn the Fat review, you’ve possibly saved yourself a lot of time – the book is over 340 pages! That doesn’t include all of the free gifts that come with the package (or additional materials you can purchase separately). If you are a casual dieter, you may be overwhelmed by all the information.
Also, the writing style and a large part of the focus of the materials is on reducing your body fat percentage. Tom Venuto is a bodybuilder, and you can tell he is incredibly knowledgeable, but the real details can be a little boring (at least to me).
Con: Tom Venuto Burn the Fat Review – Exercise is not Covered Thoroughly
The meat of this book is definitely focused on your diet. Out of the 350 pages or so, only about 50 discuss exercise. While I’ve heard (and do believe) that diet accounts for 80% of your body weight and composition, I do believe it’s extremely important to exercise and would have liked to see more information.
Tom Venuto does discuss the effects of exercise on the body and even suggests numerous exercises. However, he doesn’t explain how to do them (although most are easily found by doing a YouTube search). The workout suggestions in the book list exercises you should do, but again if you are not sure of the proper form use YouTube as a resource.
However, the weightlifting FAQ was really thorough and answered a ton of questions really well. So if you don’t mind searching for the right exercise form, then the structure here may work for you.

Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle is an excellent, thorough guide to weight loss that has been written by a true expert. While it may not be the best choice for someone that isn’t interested in health and nutrition and just wants to quickly lose weight, it is an outstanding guide to building your best body.
